Originally patented in 1914, C.C. Filson’s Cruiser was designed for foresters working in the rain-soaked Pacific Northwest forests. Originally offered as a pullover shirt as well as a button-front jacket, the Cruiser rapidly became one of the most imitated jackets on the market.

This insulated version of that iconic jacket is ideal for frigid weather and biting wind. The quilted PrimaLoft® insulation and polyester lining adds significant warmth and is virtually windproof while remaining highly breathable. Unlike most synthetic insulated jackets, our Insulated Mackinaw Wool Cruiser will not melt from sparks flying off a campfire or tear when pushing through heavy brush.

Nearly all of the pockets from the original remain, with handwarmer, four cargo pockets on the front and a full-width pocket on the back. The pass-through rear pocket, originally used for timber cruisers’ maps and charts, works well for items too bulky for the front pockets, such as gloves or a beanie. The left chest pocket also has a slotted-utility patch for pens or small screwdrivers and tools. This construction puts two layers of thick, warm wool over most of the torso for warmth. Button-secure front closure and adjustable cuffs.
